Frequently asked questions
How we protect your vote, where our data comes from, billing, exports, and more.
Is HowIVoted.com an official voting system?
No. It is a private record-keeping and polling tool. Votes you log here have no legal effect and are not sent to or counted by any election authority. Always cast your real vote through the official channel.
Can anyone see how I voted?
No. Your individual votes are visible only to you, in your private dashboard. Public charts show aggregate totals only, never your name or your individual choice.
Where does the historical election data come from?
Our presidential election records are compiled from public historical sources. See our Data & Methodology page for sourcing and how we handle early elections versus modern popular-vote results.
Do I need to pay to use the site?
No. A free account lets you log votes and view national results. Paid plans add state-by-state breakdowns, advanced analytics, data exports, and custom polls.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account settings. Your plan stays active through the end of the current billing period.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card and PayPal, processed securely by Stripe and PayPal. We never store your full card number.
Can I export the data?
Premium members can use the Research Desk and export PDF and CSV reports. Ultimate members get advanced exports. Raw JSON API access is available only for Organization accounts.
Is the data free for teachers?
Yes. Verified students, teachers, and schools get Premium access at no cost for educational use. See HowIVoted for Schools.
Is my data secure?
We use encrypted connections, access controls, privacy-focused account settings, and stronger protections for sensitive access. No online system is risk-free.
